The Department of CSE was established in the year 1991. The Department offers high quality undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. The B. Tech. (CSE) program was started in the year 1983 with an intake of 20 students. The intake was subsequently increased to 120 in 2008. The M. Tech. (CSE) program was started in 1987 with an intake of 18 and subsequently increased to 20 in 2008 and M. Tech. (Information Security) was introduced in the year 2008 under Information Security Education Awareness (ISEA) project sanctioned by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT), Department of Expenditure, Government of India, New Delhi with intake of 20. Later, it was renamed as M. Tech. (Computer Science and Information Security). The Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program was started in 1986 with an intake of 30 and increased to 46 from 2008. B. Tech., M. Tech. (CSE) and M. Tech. (CSIS) programs were accredited in 2014 by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) as per Washington accord. For more details, visit nitw.ac.in/department/cse/.
